JOINING VOBS USING VOBEDIT AND IFOEDIT
If you have two (or more) VOBs
that you would like to join, quickly and easily, here’s how. This comes in very handy when you have
a feature that has been split over two discs, such as a music concert, or
Extended Editions of certain films, and you wish to put the entire thing
together as one titleset on
the one DVD. Alternatively, you can join any two (or more) VOBs together – they certainly don’t need to be
related content-wise (for example a heap of music videos or movie trailers).
Tools required:
VOBEdit
IFOEdit
If combining titles from two DVDs, the first step is to rip each disc to a
separate folder (I would suggest calling the folders disc1, disc2... etc.
Essentially, you only need to rip only the VOB files of the titleset you wish to
join. If you are unsure, rip all files on the disc.
Put all the VOB files you wish to join together in a folder. Be careful that you don't overwrite any VOBs. You may have to rename the VOBs from the second disc if both discs use VTS_01_1.VOB etc. If so, just rename them to VTS_02... instead.
Your folder should look something like the following:
Once you have all VOB files in the same directory, rename all files to VTS_01_001.VOB,
VTS_01_002.VOB, VTS_01_003.VOB
and so on. BTW, VTS_01_010.VOB follows VTS_01_009.VOB.

Now start VOBEdit.
1. Click open and open the first VTS_01_001.VOB
2. Select File->Join Clips

1. Create a new folder and name it VIDEO_TS
2. Save the new VTS_01_1.VOB file.

A dialog box will appear:
1. Check so it says 1
2. Click OK.

VOBEdit
will make the new working VOB files.

Close VOBEdit.
You should now have one or more VOB files.

Now start
IFOEdit
1. Click on the Create IFOs
button.
2. Open the VTS_01_1.VOB file
3. Select Same as source
4. And hit OK

IFOEdit will make the new IFO files.

You must now set the default language.
1. Click on the VIDEO_TS.IFO file in the top pane.
2. Double click on the audio
3. Set the language to english
4. Hit Ok
5. Click save and overwrite the
VIDEO_TS.IFO

Do the same for the VTS_01_0.IFO file:
1. Click on VTS_01_0.IFO in the top pane.
2. Double click on the audio
3. Set the language to english
4. Hit Ok
5. Click save and overwrite the
VTS_01_0.IFO

Fix the VTS sectors
1. Click on Get VTS Sectors
2. Select YES to process all IFO files

All done. You should have something similar to the following (you may
have quite a few more VOB files):

You should now have a working DVD on your HD. Test playback and navigation by pressing the DVD Play button in IFOEdit. It should retain all chapter points from the originals. Once you are satisfied that all is well, Close IFOEdit.
If you have joined two (or more) fairly lengthy items together, you may have to look at using DVDShrink or DVD2One to shrink your files to an acceptable size.
Burn with your favourite burning software.
