The left picture shows how the model 3DRuler looks in VS - The right picture shows how the model 3DRuler looks in a 3D modeling program - It is essentially a 3 part aid to making model boats and scenery objects scaled correctly for Virtual Sailor.( all 3 models show the correct size relative to the type of model being measured, and are marked in 1 foot wide stripes - every 10th stripe is red ) Part 1: A drivable version for use in VS ( can be positioned on land with the map tool ). Part 2: A .3ds model to use in your 3D Modeling program to check scale and squareness of your boats. Part 3: A .3ds model to use in your 3D Modeling program to check scale and squareness of your scenery objects.
If you need to measure larger objects ( more than 300 feet ), or smaller objects, you can simply adjust the scale of each 3DRuler appropriately, if doing this remember the difference in scale from the original size is then the multiplier for each stripe width, eg: for a boat, resize both the boat.3ds file ( then make the new boat.x file from this ) and the boat3DRuler.3ds equally - if making it 2 x bigger each stripe width = 2 feet, the original size is each stripe width = 1 foot.

These are a few pictures of my ‘Super detailed Ski Boat’ and ‘Water skier’ models, the ‘Super detailed Ski Boat’ is a 20 ft fuel injected, supercharged stern drive powered ski boat with an amazing level of both 3D, and textured detailing, and many working parts and instruments. It is also extremely maneuverable with a top speed of 40 knots. The female ‘Water skier’ is a super stable towable water skier that ( When controlling her directly while under tow ) can do 360 degree spins, jump waves, and more, she even moves her right arm, and turns her head. These models are for use in ’Virtual Sailor 7’ ( or newer eg: VS 7.01 ), a virtual sailing simulator.
