Cloud City are a female-fronted 4 piece band from Melbourne.

Cloud City consists of:

Sarah Martin (Lead vocals/lead guitar)
Ross Koger (Bass)
Allan Venn (Vocals/rythym guitar)
Andrew MacDermid (Drums)

Cloud City is confidently led by the vocals and guitars of Sarah Martin, who has been likened to by punters and reveiwers alike as a female Jeff Buckley. Coupled with big guitars, spine tingling harmonies and a killer rhythm section, the band offer a fresh sound to music lovers.

Sonically, the band could be compared to PJ Harvey, Jeff Buckley, No Doubt, with some songs hinting towards and edgier sound more reminiscent of AFI and Alice in Chains.

During the last year, Cloud City has performed a series of well-received shows around Melbourne and beyond , and continue to grow their loyal fanbase. Their latest recorded effort, a 3-track demo, has seen support on Melbourne Community stations PBS and RRR, with live to air performances featured on both stations throughout 2004.

The band looks foreword to building their profile in 2005 with plans for recording an EP, touring and of course more Melbourne shows!

Jager Uprising - 22nd June 2005

"Cloud City came on and just blew me away. The lead singer stands on the left, her voice just brings you in and I'm singing along with the chorus. Sweet vocals, good harmonies from the other guitarist standing in the middle, the bass player watches the others and plays with bass held high. The drums work in behind, leaving room for the full vocals. Think a female Jeff Buckley. Sarah the singer has heaps of confidence and when the bass player breaks a string, she jokes around while the bass player from Vespertine lends her bass. She needs to learn some mic technique as her voice sometimes overpowers but that will come. The songs are just great, the band work together beautifully. She is a star, playing some great lead breaks and just wailing in the vocals. The band have songs that you want to sing along with, the guitars rock. In the right hands this band will go places. Sarah has just won a karaoke competition worth $5000 and used the money to buy a new Orange amp and quad box. Way to go."
