Our
trip to Tumut February 2006
We
stayed at the Riverglade
Caravan Park 5 minute walk into town and situated on the Tumut River.
I would recommend this caravan park to anyone stopping at Tumut. Our site
was overlooking the river.

Blowering
Dam
1968 The first release of irrigation water from Blowering Dam was made
by the Premier of New South Wales, the Honourable R W Askin.
1974 The Lower Tumut works (Tumut 3 Power Station, Jounama Dam and Blowering
Dam projects) were completed.

Adelong
Falls Reserve
This is a very well preserved and fascinating area where the enthusiastic
gold panner can try their luck in the creek where thousands of miners
once made their fortune. The area is clearly signposted and many of the
ruins are easy to recognise including the Richie's Gold Battery, the water
wheels which were used to drive the battery, and the old brick chimney.
Over 25 tonnes of gold was mined from 1857 to the close of the mine in
1914.

Adelong
is a small town now just a local service centre was once a thriving gold
mining centre.

Adelong

driver was killed
Batlow
The town of Batlow, 30kms south of Tumut, is famous for its bountiful
apple, cherry and stonefruit orchards.
