Beans, broad
Plant from autumn in the hotter inland areas until winter.
In coastal regions plant from autumn until spring.

Beans, bush or climbing
In all areas, wait until the soil is warming up in spring before planting, with no danger of frost. Plant until mid-summer inland, late summer coastal.

Beetroot
Plant in spring and summer inland. They can go year round in coastal areas where frost is light, are best planted from spring to autumn.

Broccoli
Can grow year round except where frost is severe.

Brussel Sprouts
Try planting in summer or late summer and autumn.  Are best if maturing in cooler weather.

Cabbage
Can grow year round except where frost is severe.

Capsicum, all types
Wait until frost danger is past before setting out plants. In all areas requires some warmth to grow. Plant until late spring or early summer.

Carrots
In frosty areas plant from September through March, most of the year elsewhere.

Cauliflower
Can grow year round except where frost is severe.

Celery
Plant from late winter or during the spring.  Does not thrive if maturing in hot weather.  Try planting in summer for autumn or winter maturity, unless winter frost is severe.

Cucumber
Plant in spring after danger of frost has past, until early summer.

Corn
Plant in spring all areas in succession until early summer.

Egglant
Wait till frost danger is past before setting out or planting. Plant until early summer.

Garlic
Plant cloves in ground during fall and winter.

Kohlrabi
Plant from late summer to the spring. In frosty areas, late summer and spring.

Leeks
Plant from late winter or early spring till late summer or early autumn.

Lettuce
Year round. Where quite frosty plant in spring and summer.

Onions
Plant in autumn and winter in all areas in order to get bulbs to form by spring and summer.

Parsnips
Plant from late winter until mid-summer inland, through most of the year coastal.

Peas
Plant from late summer through spring. Can also be grown through the summer in cooler climates.

Potatoes
Can be planted in spring and early summer in the frostier areas, otherwise from early spring to early autumn.

Pumpkin
Plant during spring after all frost is past and the ground is warming, until early summer.

Shallots
Can be planted from late summer until the spring.

Silverbeet
Plant in spring until mid-summer inland, or from late winter until early autumn coastal.

Spinach
Plant from late winter until spring inland or year-round coastal. In hottest inland areas may not hold well in summer, is best to mature in cooler weather.  Trying sowing in late summer.

Swedes
Can be planted year round, or during spring and summer in frosty areas.

Tomatoes
Wait till all danger of frost is past before setting out plants. Plant during spring until early summer.

Turnips
Can be planted year round, or during spring and summer in frosty areas.
